Installing available OS update is declined because of low disk space

Cryptshare Virtual Appliance with openSUSE 42.1
Symptom
When checking for an OS update via the Administration Interface, a message says that at least 1 GB of free space is required even though there is more than 1 GB available on the Cryptshare Server. 
Cause
The storage space requirements have increased to 2GB since this message was written. In fact, 2 GB have to be available for performing the update.
Solution
Freeing up 2 GB of disk space is necessary.
